Molecular Biology/Pharmacology: The National Institute on Aging (NIA), a major research component of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Department of Health and Human Services, is recruiting for several postdoctoral positions in the Receptor Pharmacology Unit (RPU), Laboratory of Neurosciences (LNS) in the Intramural Research Program (IRP) at the NIA. The research focus is on projects aimed at understanding how the cellular and molecular mechanisms of aging and neurodegenerative disorders, such as Alzheimer's and Huntington's, affect the function and pharmacology of heptahelical G protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) and their associated signaling scaffold proteins. We are investigating the proteomic alterations in the biology of GPCRs in the nervous system and how changes that occur during aging/disease can be specifically exploited with the design of novel receptor pharmacotherapeutics. Design of therapeutic compounds shall be undertaken in collaboration with Dr. Nigel Greig, also of the LNS.
Four new postdoctoral positions are currently available in the RPU. We aim to create a technically diverse, dynamic, and enjoyable research environment. The candidates for the multiple positions should have experience in one or more of the following fields of research: neuroscience, pharmacology, cellular signal transduction, proteomic technology, GPCR biology, and molecular cloning techniques. Experience of Good Laboratory Practice is vital for these positions.
The candidates must have a Ph.D. degree in a relevant field with five years or less of postdoctoral experience. Candidates with a strong work ethic and excellent written and presentation skills are encouraged to apply. The NIA IRP offers an outstanding training environment.
Salary is commensurate with experience and accomplishments. To apply, send curriculum vitae, bibliography, and three letters of recommendation to:
