Human DNA Repair: The National Institute on Aging (NIA) is recruiting for a postdoctoral fellow to work within the Intramural Research Program in the DNA Repair Unit of the Laboratory of Cellular and Molecular Biology.
Studies will examine the correlation of human DNA repair phenotype with age-associated disease in a diverse population based study. Investigations will also focus on the biologic functional outcomes of DNA repair gene polymorphisms and techniques to assess levels of oxidative DNA damage in human samples and correlate them with the multiple covariates collected in this population based study. Experience with the Single Cell Gel Electrophoresis Assay (Comet) and other DNA repair techniques that are employed to examine human DNA repair capacity is required. Expertise in SNP genotyping techniques, database managing, and statistical analyses methods is a plus.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. or M.D. degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related field, and less than 5 years of postdoctoral experience. Salary is commensurate with research experience, according to the NIH intramural pay scale. The laboratory is located in Baltimore, MD, a city with a stimulating scientific and cultural environment.
Interested applicants should e-mail a curriculum vitae, bibliography, cover letter, a brief description of their research interests, and the names of three references to Michele K. Evans, M.D. at me42v@nih.gov.
