Correlated self-reports and spouse ratings on the NEO Personality Inventory with 3 measures of psychological well-being in a sample of 429 Ss (aged 24-87 yrs). The inventory measured the 5 factors of neuroticism (N), extraversion (E), openness to experience, agreeableness (A), and conscientiousness (C). Consistent with previous research, N was negatively and E was positively related to well-being. Both A and C were also significant independent predictors of well-being.
