Postdoctoral position available in the Human Genetics Section to work on a determination of skin appendage formation in vitro, based on signaling pathways operating with the EDA (ectodysplasin) TNF-ligand. Training will include histology, keratinocyte cell biology, immunocytochemistry, and developmental culture as well as a range of genomic and physiological techniques.
Postdoctoral position available in the Image Informatics and Computational Biology Unit to apply high-throughput automated visual screening of RNAi feeding libraries in C. elegans. Our interdisciplinary group has developed image classification algorithms based on machine learning techniques, and we would like to apply these to the systematic reconstruction of genetic pathways in C. elegans, beginning with age and stress-response pathways.
Postdoctoral position available in the Genome Instability and Chromatin-Remodeling Section to work on purification of multiprotein complexes and analysis of their structures and functions. Projects include studies of chromatin-remodeling mechanisms (Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA. 100:10635-40), DNA damage response, and human genomic instability diseases (Nat. Genet. 35:165-170).
Postdoctoral positions available in the Developmental Genomics and Aging Section to study preimplantation mouse development (Dev. Cell. 6: 117-131, 2004) and embryonic stem cells (PLoS Biol. 1: 410-419, 2003). The work utilizes embryogenomics approaches (Trends Biotechnol. 19: 511-518, 2001) and focuses on the identification and characterization of genes that are critical for the maintenance of pluripotency and/or for early commitment to different cell lineages. Experiences with molecular biology and/or mouse developmental biology are desirable.
Research Assistant/Associate (Technician) position available in the Developmental Genomics and Aging Section. Responsibilities will include the routine maintenance of mouse ES cells, transgenic experiments including gene knockouts, differentiation of ES cells in vitro, histological and biochemical cell assays, and DNA analysis. Experience in tissue culture, basic molecular biological techniques, mouse embryology, or mouse handling is desirable, although training will be given.
