On a recent visit to the Gerontology Research Center (GRC), Baltimore Mayor William D. Schaefer (left) has a friendly 'eyeball to eyeball' confrontation with National Institute on Aging, Director, Dr. Robert N. Butler.  The mayor is being shown how photos of the back of the eye are taken to determine small blood vessel changes with age in longitudinal study volunteers.

The GRC, largest in the western hemisphere, is located on the grounds of Baltimore City Hospitals.
